Responsibilities:

Do you have a passion for all things dog? Get Pawsitive Dog Training is looking for dedicated and compassionate dog trainers to join our team. We're a tight-knit crew focused on positive reinforcement and helping pet parents build a stronger bond with their four-legged family members. If you're an experienced trainer who loves a rewarding challenge and wants to make a real difference in the lives of dogs and their people, we want to hear from you!

  • Conducting in-person group training classes in a fun, positive atmosphere.

  • Leading private, in-home training sessions with clients.

  • Developing and implementing customized training plans for a variety of behaviors.

  • Communicating effectively with clients to provide guidance and support.

  • Maintaining a positive, encouraging, and professional environment. 

  • Reliable and outgoing. Eager to learn and collaborate with the team.

  • At least 2 years of professional dog training experience using positive, dog-friendly methods.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • The ability to effectively instruct both humans and canines.

  • A strong understanding of canine body language and behavior.

  • The knowledge and expertise to successfully resolve multiple behavior concerns.

  • ​Upholds the highest standards of animal welfare, applying strictly humane and ethical training practices that ensure the safety and well-being of every animal.

  • Have at least one dog training/behavior credential (degree and/or certificate). Certifications such as CDT, KPA, VSA, CPDT-KA, or CDBC are a plus.

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to drive to various client locations.

  • Flexible schedule with weekend and evening availability.

  • Basic computer literacy and fluency in English

The Trainer's Apprentice Program

Requirements

Are you eager to turn your love for dogs into a professional career? Our Trainer's Apprentice Program is designed to help you become a confident, professional dog trainer. This unique, hands-on opportunity is where you'll learn and apply the most up-to-date, science-backed, force-free training methods. You'll gain unparalleled, one-on-one mentorship directly from Get Pawsitive's owner and head trainer, Sarah, who brings over 20 years of experience. For dedicated and successful apprentices, this program can serve as a direct pathway to a position on the GPDT team. Build the confidence and skills needed to lead your own training sessions and handle any training challenge.
 

As a mentee in this program, you will:
 

  • Gain unparalleled one-on-one mentorship by shadowing Get Pawsitive's owner and head trainer, Sarah, to master advanced training techniques, behavior problem solving and effective client coaching.

  • Assist in-person group classes (weekend availability required), learning how to manage class dynamics and provide on-the-spot feedback.

  • Observe and assist with private, in-home training sessions, building your hands on skills in addressing specific behavior concerns in a real-world environment.

  • Learn to develop customized training plans and communicate effectively with clients to ensure their long-term success.

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to drive to various client locations.

  • A strong passion for dogs and positive reinforcement training.

  • Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have the desire to enroll in a dog training certification program.
